Technology is moving fast, and many teams now use AI to search, screen and compare candidates. At the same time, candidates often wonder how their applications are evaluated. From August 2026, the EU AI Act will treat AI used in hiring as high risk, which means stricter rules, more transparency and clearer responsibilities for employers.
For us in recruitment, this matters. Fair and human‑centred hiring has always been important at Beyondo, and regulations like this remind us why. AI can support a process, but it should never replace good judgment. People want to understand how decisions are made, and they deserve clarity. The new guidelines highlight exactly that: keep a person involved, make sure your tools are reliable, and be open with candidates when AI plays a role.
If you hire in the EU, or evaluate EU‑based candidates, you will need to make updates ahead of 2 August 2026, when the high-risk rules become mandatory. Fines for non‑compliance can be significant, but more importantly, this shift is an opportunity to build trust by showing candidates that your process is fair and transparent.
Beyondo will continue to monitor the EU AI Act so that we stay up to date for both clients and candidates. Our goal is always the same: to make recruitment clear, honest and genuinely human.
